PRESIDENTS REMARKS

Gentlemen, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Club officials and Council Members for the work they have done in keeping Kidsgrove Probus Club an efficient and thriving concern.

ACTIVITIES

Once again sincere thanks go to our Speaker Secretary who never ceases to keep us entertained and on occasions even educated with a variety of speakers from Les Mason on the History and development of Apedale to The Lebanon. Dragonflies. Howard Hughes. Aeronautics, Lost Beers. The Sixties, James Brindley and Costa Crime. Superb Alan

Our two regular “sporting” and outdoor activities continue to be supported and thanks go to Len Dale for organising both the indoor and outdoor bowls.

Walks continue to be led by myself with a limit of 5 miles, a few stiles and a minimum of undulations with guaranteed sunshine and a good hostelry at the end, all with a minimum of repetition.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The Presidents Evening was held at the Manor House and was very successful.

A Visit to Gladstone Pottery Museum took place in June and was attended by 14 of our members and partners.

July found the club on its way to Scarborough for a 7 day holiday operated by Alfa Travel.

In August we had the opportunity to take a trip on a narrow boat through the Harecastle Tunnel.

In September Lunch was organised by John Crutchley and in November was the first of what has become regular trips to Evans Hotel in Llandudno

Christmas lunch was held in December also at the Manor House.

Many thanks to Ken Williamson for organising our busy Schedule and also to all who assisted him.

MISCELLANEOUS

The annual Rotary Reindeer Collection was augmented to the tune of £368 by the Probus Collection outside Home Bargains. Thanks go to Peter and Michael Lloyd, Andrew Dimelow, Len Dale, Dave Tipper,  Fred Maxfield, Dave Birchall, Cliff Triner, Norman Hankey and Graham Tunnicliff. AKA Santa’s helpers.

It would be remiss of me not to mention our Secretary Michael Nield who continues to prop up the front line with his excellent administration skills, and finally Chris Brough who does such a great job editing the News Letter especially mi spellcing mistaukes.
