Meeting A.G.M June 2024

Minutes for the AGM of Kidsgrove Probus held on

Wednesday 28th June 2023 at Kidsgrove C.C. at 10.00

Attendees: Vic Fayers-Hallin, Linda Fayers-Hallin, Helen Owen, John Dunn, Len Dale,  Cliff Tryner, David Birchall[LF1] , Jeff Parker, Graham Tunnicliff, John Lowe, Terry Dale, Leslie Ford, Terry Cook, Adrian Ford, George Harrop, Frank Eld, Fred Maxfield, Frank Timmis, Ken Williamson, Bill Booth, Alan Henshall, Michael Nield, Peter Lloyd, Michael Lloyd, John Hughes, Andrew Dimelow, Barry Knapper, John Wilkinson, David Tipper;

  1. Apologies were received from Peter Grove.
  2. Election of President and Vice-President:    
    1. Since there were no nominations from the floor, both Vic and Graham indicated that they were prepared to stand for a further year.
    1. It was agreed that Clause 3(iii) of the Constitution should be amended to “to enable that the term of office of the current President be extended by a year”, proposed by Vic Fayers-Hallin and seconded by Linda Fayers-Hallin.
    1. It was agreed that Clause 3(iii) of the Constitution should be amended to “to enable that the term of office of the current Vice-President be extended by a year”, proposed by Vic Fayers-Hallin and seconded by Helen Owen.
    1. Both Vic and President and Graham as Vice-President were elected unanimously.
    1. Vic then explained that the membership should all consider the President’s and Vice-President’s positions for the 2024/25 year, as without them, the Club would fold.
  3. Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday 31st May were approved.
  4. There were no matters arising.
  5. President thanked Ken Williamson for his work as the Social Secretary.  He is now retiring from that position. John Lowe was also thanked for the hard work involved arranging events during the year.
  6. Treasurer’s report;
    1. Helen thanked Terry Dale and Alan Henshall for auditing the annual accounts.
    1. Balance in the Bank is £1,026.22, £88.50 cash and £68.00 cheques.
    1. All money has been collected for the Presidents Dinner
    1. Subs of £45 are now due.  If you have not already done so. Please pay by cheque today.
  7. Social Secretary.
    1. There are 40 people attending the Presidents Dinner.
    1. “The Turkey and Tinsel” event is taking place at the Adams hotel in November.
    1. Special Trips have been investigated but members are cautious and the response was not good.
    1. Hollinshead Coaches arrange coach trips and their trips can be joined by members.
    1. Joint ventures with Biddulph – we should arrange a date which is convenient for both parties.
    1. Thursfield trip on 13th December – 2 nights on the east coast, – there are 20 seats available, but 2 people have dropped out.
    1. Christmas Party – John Lowe to set up a committee please to ring venues, dates available etc.,
    1. Bowls – Len Dale reported that it has been cool, but not wet, and they are carrying on without problems.
    1. The President re-iterated that Ken will be difficult to follow, but he has appreciated his work.  If anyone wishes to volunteer to help with the social side of Probus, please let him know.
  8. No Correspondence has been received,
  9. There was no AOB.

Since this was the A.G.M., there is no speaker.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday 28th July when Mr John Kerwin will continue his talk on the History of Rubber which was interrupted last November.
