This months walk took place on Wednesday June 6th. Eight of us travelled to Rudyard, parking at the hotel where we were later to enjoy lunch. Ten years ago when we walked around the lake there was seventeen of us. Time has taken it’s toll, but I am pleased to say that the sun is continuing to shine.
This time by way of a change we walked in an anti clockwise direction starting at the visitor centre, then climbing up past the much improved houses that line this section of the lake.
The next point of interest was Cliffe House which I decribed in 2008 as being rather sad looking, well nothing has changed. From this view point you get a complete view of the 168 acre lake.
Walking down the driveway we eventually came to the bridge leading us to the car park at Ryecroft, which is where the old Railway station to Macclesfield was and is now the terminus for the minature train line and the very pleasant level walk returning us to the Dam and on to The Rudyard Lake Hotel where we enjoyed a very pleasant lunch.
The next walk will continue with the lake theme, meet at the Kidsgrove Car Parks at 9.30am for a trip to Tittersworth Reservoir. Lunch will be at the Lazy Trout.
