Minutes for the Meeting of Kidsgrove Probus on
Wednesday 31st May 2023 at Kidsgrove C.C. At 10.00
- No Apologies were received.
- Minutes of the last meeting held on Wednesday 26th April at Kidsgrove C.C. at 10.00 hrs.
- Matters arising from the Minutes － Reminder for Members attending the Presidents Dinner to pay Helen the balance please.
- Treasurer’s Report:
- There is £961.22 in the Bank, with a further £150 paid in, 1,119.72 Cash in Hand with 2 cheques outstanding. We have to pay £320 for room hire, leaving us with £799 in the bank.
- Auditors for the account are Alan and Terry.
- Reference to the closure of the Kidsgrove Branch of Barclays Bank in August 2023. The local MP has been contacted asking him if he can save the Bank; as the nearest branch will be Hanley. The Post Office will accept monies paid in, but only if the money is in Barclays Paying in Bags.
- Subs: Helen explained to members the current costs to the Club: Room Hire £320

Total £1,195.
There are 32 members, and looking at the figures, she has no option but to recommend an increase to £45.0 which was agreed.
- We have received a reminder from the Cricket Club that our subscription of £10 each Probus member is due. They require a list of members’ names and contact details (in case of emergencies). The £320 will be paid out of Probus Funds.
- Social Secretary’s Report
- Presidents Evening, will be held on Friday 30th June. If you are attending, please remember to pay the balance by next meeting. Thanks to John Lowe for his hard work in arranging this.
- Evans Hotel Llandudno, 3-6 November. A reminder that the costs are a special price for members.
- Suggestions for a boat trip in July are being explored – Chedderton – Foxhill, and a Trent River Trip with afternoon tea.
- It is suggested that we contact either (or both) Alsager or Congleton Probus Clubs to see they are interested in trips as it is essential that we share trips to guarantee a full coach
- Christmas Lunch 2023. This has not yet been booked as it is subject to the agreement of members. The suggestions are that we contact the Leg of Man, Golf Club and the Manor for their prices/menus. Thoughts are that the Leg of Man is OK for a meal, but there is no atmosphere for a speaker. Other suggestions for a venue are welcome.
- Bowls Update – The weather at the moment is too hot, but the Club members are doing very well.

John Hambleton, the speaker, brought with him twenty five items of old Tools and Appliances, which he asked us to identify.
