Minutes of the Probus E.G.M held at The Cricket Club on Wednesday 29 September 20201 at 10.00am
Apologies were received from Bill Booth, George Harrop, Alan Henshall, Fred Maxfield, Stephen Rhodes, Michael Woodcock.
President John Dunn inducted Leslie Ford into membership and gave him his welcome pack, tie and badge.
Minutes of the previous A.G.M meeting on Wednesday 26 June 2019 were read by the Secretary.
There were no matters arising from the minutes
Notice of Motion
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic rule 3 of the constitution needed to be revised. Council had drafted out a recommendation which was circulated to members prior to the meeting. The changes were accepted.

Honorary Life Member
The President paid tribute to all the sterling work Alan Henshall has done for the club during his 17 years as Speaker Secretary. Alan would now be retiring from this position.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution, it was agreed to award him with Honorary Life Membership.
Treasurer’s report: Graham Brown reported that we had £812.30 in the bank and £59.50 cash in hand. The statements of Accounts would be carried forward to next year.
Council had considered the income and expenditure of the club for the next year and recommended that subscriptions remain the same at £40. This was accepted.
Social Committee’s report
Ken Williamson reported that they had not sat for the past 2 years. He advised members to book day trips and short breaks direct with Hollinshead’s Coaches.
John Lowe had contacted all past Probus members personally by phone to determine if they still wanted to be members during the next year. This revealed that there would be a possible total membership of 33 people.
The Christmas Lunch will be at The Manor House Hotel, Alsager on Thursday 2nd December 2021. Menus had been distributed to members. Cost of Meal £25.00 per head for 3 courses.
Graham Tunnicliff said that there would be no meeting in October but walks would re-commence in November 2021.
Len Dale said that a sum of £426 had been collected from participants during the crown green bowling season and he was very grateful. He went on to explain where the money was spent; on maintaining the surface, and chemicals needing to be purchased to combat the threat of disease’s like Fusarium
Because several members could not attend certain dates on the winter indoor programme, he had notified everyone of the new dates as follows:
October 19th, November 9th, December 14th, January 11th, February 8th, March 8th.
The Secretary read out a letter from Rotary regarding the forthcoming Reindeer collection at Home Bargains on Saturday 11 December 2021. Graham Tunnicliff agreed to co-ordinate volunteers from Probus.
The President said that he would be presenting the wreath at the cenotaph on Sunday 14 November 2021.
Birthdays in October – Ken Williamson, Michael Woodcock.
The speaker was Mr Keith Meeson who gave us an illustrated talk about Treetops Trecks.
The whisky was won by David Birchall – Ticket No 761.
