President’s Remarks
Welcome to this February meeting. I was sorry I could not attend last month’s gathering. This was due to family commitments.
My thanks to Terry Dale for officiating in my place. The feedback I received was very favourable and it gave Terry an opportunity to practise his role as President ready for June. I knew the meeting would be in a safe pair of hands.
This has been a quiet month after the hustle and bustle of the festive season, a chance to relax and look forward to our spring holiday in the Isle of Wight.
Bob Kay has now had a new leg fitted and is coping well. He and Sheila have now moved to an apartment in Newcastle. We wish both of them every happiness in their new home. Hopefully, Bob will be able to continue meeting with us at some time in the future.

The February Walk was from Brereton Park Nature Reserve
This month’s walk was from Brereton Heath Nature Reserve following a bridleway down into the Dane Valley. We crossed the river in this rich dairy country and walked up into Swettenham where we followed a circular walk around the village, ending up at the 12th century church of St. Peter. We then retraced our steps back along the bridleway to Brereton Heath.
Twelve people went on the walk – seven members and five ladies. We had a very enjoyable lunch at The Swan next to the station in Holmes Chapel.
March Walk
For the March walk we re-visit The Cloud – surely one of the best short walks for miles around – if the visibility is good!
We will park at Timbersbrook and walk the opposite way round to the usual walk.
I suggest we go to the Church House, Buglawton for lunch.
Please meet on the tiered car parks in Kidsgrove at 9:30 on Wednesday 1st March.
