March 2019

Gentlemen,

I have to report the sad passing of Wendy Durose, who was the wife of past member Alan Durose. Wendy and I were both jazz fans and attended many local gigs over the years. She will be missed. Wendy’s funeral service will be held at St Thomas’s Church Kidsgrove on Tuesday 2nd April at 11.15am., followed by committal at Bradwell Crematorium and afterwards at The Manor Hotel in Alsager.

Many thanks to John Dunn, who organised a Probus lunch at the Legs of Man.  It was well attended, and the meal was excellent.

Another quiet month, but we have day trips to Gladstone Pottery and Bala in the pipeline, as well as the short three day holiday to the Evans Hotel in Llandudno on Friday the 5th of April.

We wish a speedy recovery to Dennis Fletcher, who is rather poorly at the moment.

       Norman Hankey, President.

The UK Is Becoming An Unskilled Nation

Nothing is made in the UK these days! I have just bought a new radio and it said “Built in Antenna”. I don’t even know where that country is!
