Walk Report August 2016

Walk Report

The August walk was from the Lion Salt Works museum near Northwich along the Trent and Mersey Canal to the Anderton Boat Lift where we stopped for coffee at the visitor centre.  We then returned through Marbury Country Park alongside Budworth Mere.  We had lunch at the Salt Barge Inn just across the road from the Lion Salt Works.

Next Walk

The September walk starts from Beeston Castle and follows the Sandstone Trail past Peckforton Castle.  It then drops down to the village of Peckforton  before returning to Beeston.

The distance is about 5 miles with a gradual climb up the Sandstone trail to the Peckforton castle area but with some great views both to the east and west.

I suggest we have lunch at the Shady Oak  which is on the Shropshire Union Canal very close to Beeston Castle.

Please note this walk will be on Wednesday 14th September as the Probus holiday to St. Ives is during the first week of September. Please meet at 9:30 on the tiered car parks in Kidsgrove.
